Once again Mother Nature whacks the West Coast. Who knew there was still snow around? Well, trust me, we got more snow –

Max and I have been getting out a little more regularly for longer walks lately. I think he knows with his shedding, that spring is here too, because he’s quite a bit friskier. He’s enjoying the outdoors after all that snow, which he did NOT enjoy.
Well spring seems to be on the way. Bulbs are coming up, and the grass looks to be waking up. Back to cutting grass soon!
Quite the winter we’ve had. Never dreamed we’d see one so bad after the one last year, which was so bad… figured it would be a mild one. Next year, we deserve one!
Anyway, here’s a picture of the sunrise today, from out our front door. It was pretty colorful for us! Hope you all had a good day.
Here we are and January is gone already! Pam and I took Max over to Serpentine off leash park and there were lots of goofy, fun dogs there today. Max was able to get in some serious running with a number of dogs.
This guy in the picture was, without a doubt, the clumsiest dog in the universe. He must have run into me 4 or 5 times. He was hysterical! There was also a little terrier of some kind, a little white guy, kept sticking his head in the puddles. Not to drink, but to get his face all muddy. A most unusual trait.
And you know what – I’m picking the Cards in the Super Bowl today. Hoping the old guy can do it. By old guy I mean Kurt Warner, Arizona Cardinals quarterback, who will be 58 on his birthday. But hey, I will take the points!
Just writing a quick note before the All Star game starts.
Max and I went to the off leash park for a brisk stroll. The weather has finally cleared, after 19 days of fog. So we took full advantage by getting out in the sunshine 
and enjoying the company of other dogs.
Max is super friendly with other dogs, and he is always scooting off for a big romp with one dog or another! He intercedes when other dogs get out of hand, too, like he’s the cop of the outfit or something. It’s a strange thing to see actually.
He races around with big dogs or little dogs, rough housers, or shy types – he just wants to go for a run! He was really good with people today, even let a few people (women) pet him and touch him without him reacting negatively. A great sign.
We’ve been in a fog… and the weather has been crazy too! This year is going to be one for the record books, that’s for sure. First the seemingly endless amounts of snow, and now this crazy fog.
I love the fog, and so does Pam, but we don’t normally get it for such a long time and over such a wide area. I’m going to have to get some shots of the bridges, because you can hardly see them.
The one of Max in the fog was taken on Saturday, at Serpentine Off leash park. He’s been a bit restless with all the snow not allowing him to get out and give it a good run, so we’ve been to the offleash a couple times over the last couple of days.
The one of him in his new bandana was taken at the office on Saturday. (I was installing the new server on the weekend – easier to do when no one is around tapping their feet waiting for the databases to get back online.)
He’s doing really well, except for his barking at strangers. I’m convinced it’s because he’s scared, or nervous of them, rather than him trying to be mean. He’s generally pretty good, but still has his moments of barking at strangers.

Well yesterday Jan 5th we woke to another deluge of snow. It’s been an incredible winter here on the left coast. We usually experience a very mild winter, and for many of us, that very mildness is the reason we live here. We don’t like the snow! So when (as my mother calls it) LA LA land get’s this much snow it is cause for concern. The roads have been treacherous, and people are having heart attacks just due to the sheer volume of snow they are trying to shovel to keep driveways and walkways clear.
Today we woke to pouring rains. It’s REALLY coming down, and it’s creating flooding along the roads. The street in front of our home has rivers of water running down it and our driveway is trying its best to allow the water pouring off our roof, to find its way to the road and down the storm drains. It’s just pouring off the house as I speak and our gutters are not holding it in, there are some leaks on our corner gutters near the garage and if I put a garbage can under it, it fills with water in a short period of time. The snow pack must be significant this year, so I imagine the rivers and creeks will be well watered!
I’ll go outside and take a picture of the water coming down but it might not show up on my post right away as I’ll need M to show me how to post the picture to gallery so I can use it. I am glad I am off right now and not having to go out in this weather!
So, I guess I’m posting this for you to see that we are not whining about the snow anymore… NOW it’s the water!! hahah

Yep, back at the shoveling snow thing again today. Thought we were done with that, but apparently global warming is taking a holiday in the Caribbean!
We looked for a cheap flight to Acapulco, but every time we tried to book them, they suddenly disappeared. But gee, we can offer you this replacement, and it’s a mere 300 more than the other one!
I tell you – if it snows one more time, we’ll have to DRIVE somewhere warm.

We really need for Canada to purchase a big Caribbean island so we can have a nice warm place to retire, that’s still part of Canada. A great plan… real estate is never a bad investment, right?
