Remembrance Day 2014

Vern in uniformHere is a poem written by Pam’s Dad, Vernon Amero.

DON’T FORGET FLANDERS FIELD

Flanders Field where our brave men and women lay;
Where they died for freedom, we enjoy today.

Our men and women, we shall never forget;
on Remembrance Day, shake the hand of a Vet.

Remembrance DayAs years go by, and our parades diminish;
what someone else started our Veterans finished.

Let’s teach our children, what war was all about;
and when they see the parade, there will be no doubt.

Teach them to pray, there will be no more war;
and to always remember, those that went before.

  1. Very cool shots I have never seen those. Thx Maurice. First year in years I did not get to go to the museum where dad worked because of my crap hole job. Hated missing that so much. Would have been cool to see Tim march for it he’s such a great guy.

    1. This year we put up a small display – a couple of crosses, and the Canadian flag at half mast. Got a lot of neighbours coming by and saying thanks for doing it. Seemed this year, of all years, we all needed to rally around!

  2. What wonderful pictures of your dad Pam. Love the poem. He was such a cool guy.
    Tim marched again this year and I was truly touched to see so many come this year.
