Maurice\'s Dad

Maurice's Father, Ernest Ormon

Maurice's DadMy father, Ernest Waldo Ormon, passed away last night, April 2 2015, after a short illness. He was 84.

He was a fiercely proud Canadian, serving in the military for thirty years. He entered as a private and worked his way up to captain. A pretty amazing feat for someone who didn’t finish school! When one of his posts took him (and his family) to Europe for four years he got quite annoyed when European people  would ask us if we were American!

Mom and DadAfter the military, he had a short stint in banking, then he retired to the golf links! Dad loved the golf course. Some of my warmest memories are of us trudging around golf courses, usually searching for my ball, at impossibly early hours.

He and my mother were active until just a few years ago when my father began exhibiting signs of dementia, or Alzheimer’s disease.

The cakeAll four of his children were able to return to Calgary from other cities and countries to be with him, before he passed away. Luckily, he didn’t suffer, and went very quietly.

Karen and DadHe is survived by Margaret, his wife of 62 years, his children, David and wife Catherine, Rod and wife Loreen, Maurice and wife Pam, Karen and husband Richard Van Appelen, and his many grandchildren and great grandchildren.

We will all miss him very much.

Rest in Peace Dad.

  1. My condolences, we will all miss him. I love the pic of Dad with his parents. It is hard to imagine him that young! Have you added it to the dropbox?
