It sure does look like Christmas is ALMOST here… One more letter, and it looks like it WILL be Christmas!
Today in Willemsted the Christmas decorating has begun in earnest. A large tree in the central square of both the Punda (the main downtown) and the Otrabanda (literally “the other side” – over the Queen Emma bridge) were lit today. The tree pictured here was on the Punda side.
We saw this young couple taking a picture of each other in front of the Curacao sign and we asked if they wanted us to take their picture. “No no,” he shouts, “join me!” And grabs Pam and I in a hug and his girlfriend takes pictures, then we take theirs and it’s just funny.
A few minutes later we’re getting silly in this cutout and who pops in for a photobomb? haha
We had begun the day at Playa Jeremi, in the Westpunt region of Curacao, about a 20-30 minute drive from where we are staying. It was a beautiful beach, with a wide sandy entry to the water. There was lots to see – we even got inked by an octopus and saw a green moray swimming free in the ocean, instead of poking his head out from under a rock. Very nice day in the water for sure.
We had dinner at the Ribs Factory. It’s been a favorite of ours since the first time we’ve come, and it was still really nice. It’s a little more expensive now, but still worth the money!
