Max's first Vet Visit

Scottsdale Vet Today Max is going to go see the Vet for his check up. When we got Max from the SPCA, he came with a certificate that gives us a free Vet check up, and so he will be going today as we have to get him seen within 3 business days of picking him up. Because he is such a good walker, we are going to walk over to the vets together he and I and we will meet Dr Peter together. According to the previous owners he is good at the vets, so we shall see!

Max is up to date on his : distemper / hepatitis / adenovirus / parvovirus / para influenza / rabies / bordetella

He has to go back to the Vet on Oct 24th Friday to have his sutures out, where his dewclaws were in the back. Those were removed when he had his neutering done. The neutering has dis-solvable stitches but the dew claw sutures are not. Dad is going to have to take him to have that done, because Mammy has to work. ๐Ÿ™‚

  1. Max went to the vet today. He goes to the Surrey Animal Hospital. We walked over, and that is about 5 blocks or so… and he did great. He was a good boy stopping at each corner and waiting. He saw a new vet today as Dr Peter was not available to see him. This new vet was Dr Julianne Mandler, and she was very good with Max. Max did pretty good in the exam room until she went to look at his ears. He’s not great with people he first meets until he knows they are friends, so he barked at her. I told her Max apparently has never bitten anyone, but lets muzzle him just in case, which we did (that was a trick to get it on because as fast as I put it on, he would try to swipe it off (tricky guy!). He had his exam and stood stoically while he had his heart and lungs checked and they are both good, and his ears are clean and clear of infection but he has a history of ear infections , and she could tell by looking at them, because of the thickening she saw. She advised us to keep a close eye on them. We talked some of his allergies because I said I found it hard to believe a dog would be allergic to meat. She said some are, and that it doesn’t meat it’s all meat, and if we wanted to do trials, it would be easy to see what he is and isn’t allergic to, so I will talk to Max’s dad about what that would mean, as he’s the cook! ๐Ÿ™‚

Max’s stitches come out on Friday and Maurice will have to take Max in to get that done, his hind dew claws were removed on Oct 16th. All in all it was a good Vet visit.
