On Karen’s birthday – December 5th -(Happy Birthday Karen!) we headed to Playa Lagun. Pam and I had been wondering when was the last time we had seen a turtle in Curacao, and I mentioned that we had been to Playa Lagun and they had told us there were turtles there the day before we got there!

So today we went back. The beach looks remarkably similar to the last time we were here… which is unusual in that most other beaches we have been to have “upgraded” somewhat with extra palapas, restrooms, dive shops, etc.

One thing new was a couple guys preparing fresh barracuda steaks. The remains are tossed into the ocean, and man, it’s a feeding frenzy. All sorts of fish come for dinner.

And turtles too! Only one mind you, but he was not the shy retiring kind. He wanted dinner, and he didn’t care if you wanted to watch him eat!

We saw lots of fun stuff, but it’s always the turtles we remember the most. And let me tell you – TOMORROW we will see way more turtles in one day than we seen in most weeks of snorkeling!
