Not really a Max post – just wanted to put up a few more pictures so you can see how scary it was! haha We had a terrific time!

Halloween 2008
This Halloween we were expecting some pretty terrible weather. According to the weather man we were going to be deluged with rain. HAH! I don’t think so.
It was almost balmy. I was not cold at all sitting outside under our overhang by the garage. Maurice did a spectacular job decorating this year. I had bought a new blow up at Costco, a group of ghouls with 2 large trees with a bevy of monsters in between them. The blow up is about 7 feet long or so, and pretty tall.
It’s nice and bright, and the number of people who were taking pictures of their kids in front of the blow up was amazing. I also got alot of requests to pose with the kids (I guess I’m not that terrifying).
Maurice added to the fun by coming out with a yoda mask on, and he would just stand there, the kids didn’t know if he was real or not. When he spoke and yelled ” get the little ones, they taste the best!” they knew! Never saw kids run so fast in my life. 🙂 hee hee
Not to be outdone, Max added to the festivities by providing some sound effects. He would bark from inside the house, or garage when the kids came up and that provided some spookifying sounds!
Maurice set up the karaoke machine for me as well as the small stereo we have with a subwoofer, so the heartbeats, screams and thumping drums, buzzing fly’s and what with Max the wolfs howls… the night was complete!
We usually get about 175-200 kids, but I think we only had about 125-150 this year. Marit, our next door neighbour came over with a swell treat of some home made pumpkin tarts with whipped cream on them. yummy. Thanks Marit! She looked swell in her vampire type outfit and was handing out candy next door.
The Canucks were playing tonight, and we won against the Ducks. I missed the game, but it was for a good cause. Halloween has always been a fun fun holiday for us, and while some may think we over do it, we consider it a gift that we can give to the kids once a year.
Maurice here — I have to say – this year was so much fun. Never seen so many kids run for their lives!
There were quite a few kids who wouldn’t even come up the drive way when Pam put the smoke on. They’d hang back and grab their parent’s hands. We’d try to coax them up the driveway by saying through the karaoke machine speakers “Come get your candy, it’s good candy, don’t be afraid!” But lots wouldn’t do it. Lot’s would come up and say, “thanks for scaring me!” lol
Sometimes I’d be in the house, and I’d see them come up and I’d yell out the mailbox – “Let me have the little one, no one would miss them – just the little one… oh come on, give me just a leg then…..” all in a transylvanian accent – If they ran (and LOTS did) i’d yell, “Aw no, you let them get away! Grab them Igor!!”
This guy was right at the end of the driveway, and people would be focused on Pam and her smoke machine. Little did they know, we had put a motion activated skull on this guy’s arm – and it would scream and blood would run down the face – it scared the daylights out of a lot of people, even adults. lol

Here is a another shot – it shows the red effect we got by having a big red spot shine down over the garage door. The big skull head had flashing red eyes too.
With the smoke curling out of there, and we had REALLY loud scary music coming out of the 3 or 4 speakers, it was a hellish looking place! Man it was fun. Kids literally ran away screaming! It was the best year for me.
We’re already planning how to improve things for next year. We saw someone with Chucky and the Bride of Chucky hanging from their garage… that might be a little too extreme!
At the Off Leash Park
Today we took Max to the off leash park called the Serpentine. It’s a smallish park, but there are tons of dogs there all out having a good time. All sorts of dog, all sorts of sizes, and he had no issues at all! He just pranced and ran and chased and was chased and had a great time.

The “That’s Gross” comment from Pam was about a “little” slobber Max had over his nose! haha About 3 or 4 feet long! haha
Feeding Frenzy!
Lots and lots of fishes! This is a feeding frenzy folks! Pam brought some fish food into the water and they went crazy for it! Not sure it’s the best thing to be doing, feeding fish? Might attract some big nasty fish, who knows?
We chose a site right at the cruise ship harbor in downtown Georgetown called Eden Rock for our last dive, and man, are we glad we got in here. 
The entry to the water was easy, with stairs cut into the rock. As soon as you hit the water, you see these HUGE fish called Tarpons.
The next couple of pictures are more of the same feeding frenzy. It’s kind of amazing to be totally surrounded by all these feeding fish, with HUGE tarpons just looking on.
Check out the last couple of pictures on this page for the tarpons – they are about 5-7 feet long and about 200+ pounds – quite intimidating! The waiter at the restaurant right beside Eden Rock, cleans his fish, then throws the debris in the ocean. The TARPONS jump right out of the water to grab the pieces! Unreal!
We saw some other great fish, too. Tim spotted this blue peacock flounder. It was so cool to see him move. He kinda glides along like a flying carpet.

Swimming with the stingrays
We’re nearing the end of our vacation, and today we headed out to see the famous Stingray City. We took a large catamaran about a mile off land, and then hopped into the ocean. It was FILLED with stingrays. 
The Stingrays having been coming to these waters for years to collect the scraps the fisherman toss over the edge, as they clean their catch. The stingrays are quite docile, and don’t mind being handled and touched. They feel sort of like a big portabella mushroom!
It was really quite an experience.
Then they took us to the Coral Gardens. That was easily the most amazing experience we’ve had in the water! I was so distracted, I did not hear 
the blasts to return to the ship and almost got left out there! Honestly, I simply did not hear it, it had nothing to do with not wanting to leave!
But the fish were amazing. We saw a very cool Nassau grouper, Pam’s been waiting for one of those. Big faces and lips on them. The colors of the 
coral were something to see as well. We thought we’d seen coral, but wow, this was so much different. There were long golden stalks of what looked like feathers waving in the sea. There were elkhorn coral, brain coral… coral I can’t name. But seeing it all together like that, in this huge teeming world, it was amazing. Just remarkable.
Cemetery Beach
Today we went to Cemetery Beach. It’s called that because the cemetery actually backs onto the beach. There are parking spots just off the “highway.” The path to reach the beach runs along the side of the tombstones and cenotaphs.
Stingrays are all over these waters, but these are the first ones we have seen so far. He’s not all that big, perhaps 2.5 feet in total, including the stinger. It’s neat to see them scoot along the bottom, just wiggling the edges of their body.
One of the stingrays we saw had a little fish that hung on his shoulder the whole time. Kinda cool.
We also saw a nurse shark, about 12 feet long laying on the bottom. We didn’t really hang around. But later we talked to the guy at the dive shop where we bought our snorkel stuff, and he said not to worry about the nurse shark. Mostly shy, a bottom feeder. No real accounts of attacking humans.
We’ve seen a lot of Blue Tangs and they are really a colorful, graceful fish. But today was really special, with this large school of them cruising around.

This is a movie of a stingray moving along the ocean floor. It’s in quite shallow water, less than 3 feet of water. He’s fairly small, only about 2 feet long in total, including his tail.
Downtown Georgetown
Lots of colorful characters in the Cayman Islands! Here are a couple of love birds – Macaw Parrots – making lots of noise and attracting big crowds!
Georgetown is a fairly small town, but there are approximately 14,000 duty free jewelry stores in the downtown core alone! Truly a remarkable site – quite dazzling, in fact. There are rows and rows of diamonds and emeralds and sapphires and rubies and something called Black Coral that is turned into wonderful art and beautiful jewelry.
Since the islands were notorious for the pirates that plagued her seas, it only natural that the ocean is littered with sunken ships everywhere – and you can buy “treasure” from all the wrecks around the islands. You can find everything from pieces of eight to 5th century BC Greek Alexander coins to cannon balls!
